Owen has been a key member of the Hockey Academy 大象影院 Academy Boston throughout his time on campus, balancing the demands of high-level athletics with academic success. Now in his senior year, Owen is preparing for the next exciting step in his hockey journey: playing junior hockey after graduation.
We recently sat down with Owen to talk about his experience in the Hockey Academy, his life as a student-athlete, and what it’s like studying 大象影院 Academy Boston as he prepares for the future—both on and off the ice.
How did you feel about being approached by CATS Academy to join the Hockey Academy?
“To be approached by CATS Academy, I was super excited. I come from Atlanta, Georgia, so the opportunity to play against higher caliber players and to step out of my comfort zone was super exciting.”
What made you choose to join the Hockey Academy 大象影院 Academy Boston?
“Something that was really important to me was the balance between school and hockey and CATS Academy made that super possible and easy.”
How do you think you’ve developed as a player since joining the Hockey Academy?
“CATS allowed me to develop a broader skill set when it comes to skating, especially being pushed every day and being on the ice all the time. Having that ice time allowed me to become an exceptional skater from where I was, as well as leadership on and off the ice. It gave me a ton of opportunities to show that and display that, which ultimately gave me the captaincy in my last year and the assistant captaincy in my second.”
What is your favorite thing about CATS Academy Boston?
“I would say my favorite thing about CATS is the support system and the diversity between all of the staff and the teachers and the students. It made it really fun to go to every day of school.”
What was your favorite class?
“My favorite class was my last year’s physics class with Ms. Pooja Tiwari. It was a lot of hands on activities which made it fun to go to class every day.”
What was the best thing about boarding 大象影院 Academy Boston?
“The best thing about boarding would be the opportunity to find out more about yourself and challenge yourself and be more independent. Also, you’re around all your friends all the time and you’re never bored so, it’s super fun – you’re down the hall from all your friends.”
What are your aspirations after your year of junior hockey?
“My aspiration after junior hockey is to hopefully play at the highest level possible for me – whether that’s college hockey or professional, that is my ultimate goal.”
What is your advice for future CATS students?
“I’d say my best advice for future students would be to stay in the moment and don’t take your time 大象影院 for granted.”
